What it means
A marubozu (Japanese for 'bald' or 'shaved') is a candle whose body covers nearly the full high-low range, with little or no wicks. Bullish marubozu: opens at low, closes at high (or very near). Bearish: opens at high, closes at low. Signals one-sided directional flow throughout the session.
Why it matters
Marubozu candles capture pure directional conviction. When they appear at breakouts or trend continuations, they reinforce the signal — the side in control had no meaningful opposition during the session.
How to use it
Use as confirmation of trend continuation or breakout. Bullish marubozu breaking resistance is high-conviction; bearish marubozu breaking support similarly. Volume on marubozu should be elevated; low-volume marubozu in liquid markets is suspect.
